After getting a shower and a good sleep, I woke up about 3 in the afternoon? Rosemay came back over about 4 and Sarah joined us also. We watched French television for a while, as I dozed off now and again Since Admirát was still at work, we finally decided to go take a walk about 7 pm. I needed to get some cash from a cash machine and wanted to check out a drug store. We walked over to the mall across from the hotel. It had several restaurants, a movie theater, and the Pharmacie. None of the restaurants really even open for service at this particular mall until 7:00 p.m. so even though we were ready for a meal, we just walked around for a bit.
Admirát took the train from work and joined us around 8 and we decided to go to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. The food was so good! I had brochettes, which are basically what we would call kabobs. Below are photos of everyone's meals. This began a tradition of taking pictures of our food! (I actually do this when I travel now in honor of my son-in-law, Karl, who takes photos of his food!) I wish I had taken a photo of the menu so I could remember the exact name of what I had. I ordered a 3-course special with entree, main course, and dessert.
Must be Sarah's food
This was my main plate
Admirát's dessert
Rosemay's food
This was a very leisurely meal. The pace of eating and the nonchalance of the waiter to bring the check reminds me of our leisurely meals in El Salvador.
It took them a really long time to bring my third course, dessert, which was coco something. I longingly waited for that chocolate dessert and when it came, I realized coco meant coconut! Oh well, coconut happens to be one of the very few foods I don't especially care for, but Rosemay liked it!
We must have left there about 11 p.m. We walked Admirát back to the train station, which is right next to the hotel, and then we went to bed for the night!
One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the signage is in English. Some of the restaurants have English, rather than French, names. I am picking up a few French terms here and there from the environment, the television, and my friends.
A short day in some respects because we slept a lot, but we will be ready for some adventures tomorrow. I keep thinking of the Chicago song, "Does anybody really know what time it is?"
