I have shoved everything into my suitcase. Not a carry-on, but still one suitcase is pretty good for me. Last night I was Googling "packing phobia"and "packing anxiety"and found out there is actually such a thing! (Of course there is.) Because every time I go anywhere (flying), I wait and wait and wait to pack and get nervous and buy more stuff that I might need. Sheesh! So after reading the posts on the Internet, I said, "Come on, Laura, buck up!" So I packed, and my suitcase weighs 39 pounds. That's good. (That's one of the things that causes my "anxiety." If you bag is over 50 pounds, they charge you $100! So last time I traveled I bought an LL Bean mini digital scale!)
So I'm packed with my big suitcase and my backpack and my neck stash bag and my camera with EyeFi card and my Iphone and my Kindle so I can write my blog! We leave tomorrow morning from here at 7:45 a.m. and go to Columbus where we will fly out at 12:20 p.m. via DFW and on to San Salvador (capital city).
¡Ciao!

One week to go
It's snowing in Ohio. But it's sunny in El Salvador. We have seven more days before we leave and we are looking forward to being in a new country. I have wanted to do this since I was in high school to go somewhere south of the border. I am so happy I will be spending my first time in Central America with believers.

Where is El Salvador?
El Salvador is in Central America. It is in the Central time zone so we will only be one hour behind New Knoxville time. On Saturday, February 1, we'll fly from Columbus, Ohio, to DFW to San Salvador. Our first few days will be spent at the Casa Del Mar Hotel. http://www.casademarhotel.com/v2/
It's right on the Pacific Ocean. This whole area is known for the surfing, but I don't think we'll be doing that!
The temperature there today is 73 degrees at 10:20 a.m. So believe it will be a tad warmer there!

Posting from my iPhone
I have discovered an iPhone app for Blogger. I have learned that I can talk into this app and do my post by voice. I'm going to give this a try. This would be awesome. It would end the late-night battles with typing and a tiny keyboard and WordPerfect and all that, so here is my first attempt.
Now I am typing. The above is what I dictated. Perfect! Much, much better than Dragon Naturally Speaking. I have a new girlfriend, Siri.

Getting Ready
In 17 days, Marcia and I leave for our grand adventure to Central America, El Salvador, our first time south of the border. Except I was in Tijuana once for a two-hour shopping trip. We are looking forward to visiting dear friends, getting out of the winter weather, rest, and a crash course in practicing our Spanish. My goal is to share our adventures online as I did while in London.
