We flew from Columbus to Dallas and then from Dallas on to San Salvador. On the first flight, there was a guy sitting a few rows in front of us who looked just like Corey Stoll from House of Cards. It did seem strange that he would be riding in coach, but our stewardess double-checked with him anyway. Not only wasn't he Corey, he didn't even know who he was. Oh well. There was no snow in Dallas as you can see from the photo below.

Our plane left Columbus earlier than planned, getting us into Dallas earlier, which was good because we only had about 45 minutes to change planes. And our plane was in a different terminal. We took the little airport train and got there just in time. Because of my American Airlines credit card, we got priority boarding. Woo woo! The plane to San Salvador was packed, every seat. But they were very accommodating. We sat in a row with a young Salvadorean woman who was traveling with her little doggie. She had gotten married in the United States in Dallas and was now flying to El Salvador to plan her Salvadorean wedding. The plane from Dallas to San Salvador served meals and showed a movie. I guess that was because it was an international flight.

When we arrived in San Salvador, it was about 6:30 PM and it was dark.
A fellow Estados Unidian snapped our photo as we were on our way from the gate to Immigration
We then stood in line a bit and went through immigration. We paid 10 dollars for our visas.
Then we went and picked up our luggage. I had a bandana tied around my suitcase so I can always find it, but somehow it got removed. So we then had a few nervous moments walking around looking for my suitcase. Marcia found it though. Hurray! Then we went through customs. When we went through customs, we had to push a button on a pole that looked like a crosswalk pole. When I pushed the button, it turned green. When Marcia pushed her button in a different line, it turned green also. We thought it was a joke. But Omar told us it is random if it turns red or green. And if it turns red you have to have your luggage checked. So God blessed us that it turned green. I didn't take a photo of this and I couldn't find one online.
After we left customs, we walked through a door and we were outside. That's where everyone was waiting for the arrival of their friends and family. It was really warm outside though already dark. Omar was there to greet us. What a welcome sight!

We walked to the parking lot to Omar's car. We would spend a lot of time in this wonderful little Mazda over the next few days!
Omar drove us a long, long way. It turns out San Salvador airport is not in San Salvador. It is near the ocean south and a little east of San Salvador. I thought I had taken some photos of some trucks loaded with sugar cane, but maybe it was too dark!
When we got to Omar's home in Santa Tecla, we were very happy to see Magdalena and to see Samuel who is a very handsome boy. Magdalena made us supper and we drank our bottled water and we talked and talked and talked. Their home is a beautiful reflection of God's love and peace. Marcia and I shared a bedroom, and slept soundly!
